Very bad things by Ilsa Madden-Mills
Today while I should have been working I read this debut novel from Ilsa Madden-Mills
I have to say for a debut this was good.
It was a story that well and truly proved that money doesn't make you happy. You can appear to have everything on the outside and on the inside feel like you have nothing.
This book covers a dual point of view from both Nora and Leo.
Where to begin with Nora-
Shes damaged- very! I wont say the biggest reason as to why shes damaged as I don't want to ruin it for you guys.
Pretty little rich girl is how she comes across to everyone else with a high IQ.
She has a pretty crappy home life, Dad is never there, her Mother- Don't even get me started on her!!
I have never read a book with such an evil woman in- Nora summed it up perfectly when she said-
“When I was four, I thought mother was a goddess. When I was fourteen, I knew she was a monster.”
All she cares about is appearances.
Anyway onto the story-
Nora has a little breakdown during a speech she has to give at school.
She is pretty much sick of pretending to be perfect....she decides she needs to be bad.
And this is how she comes across Leo- Older (7 years) business man who is a guardian to his little brother Sebastian.
Leo, Leo, Leo- So ruddy stubborn. He annoyed me so much at times. If he had realised his own stupidity this book would have been 100 pages shorter at least!
Nora wants and needs him, but he doesn't want her, doesn't believe in love and if he did he doesn't want it. Bad things usually happen to those he loves.
The majority of this book shows their relationship developing and Leo knocking her back in every way he can think of.
As for the supporting characters-
Nora's BFF- Mila- YAWN!!!!!!!!! This girl was soooooo boring I really hope book 2 doesn't feature her as a main character.
Leos brother- Sebastian- He was fantastic. His flirting and one liners had me laughing out loud. He was such a good brother and friend.
There was some cracking one liners in this book my favourite being-
Nora- “Sometimes I wish I had a lower IQ so I could enjoy your company.”
Overall a good book that I'd give 4 stars :) ****
